Eligibility
The first step in selecting and buying a suppressor is ensuring that you are eligible for suppressor ownership. Do you meet the criteria? Check out our list below:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be legally eligible to purchase and own a firearm
- Live in a state that allows suppressor ownership (Such as Florida)
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Pay the $200 tax stamp.

Choosing Your Can
Overall, suppressor choice can be boiled down to:
- The purpose of the suppressor
- Caliber
- Thread pitch
- Material/quality
- Price
The quickest way to narrow down your search for the right suppressor is finding one made for the caliber of your firearm. For example: If you have a 9mm handgun or carbine, a Rugged Obsidian 9 would be a suitable choice. Or an AAC Prodigy for a Ruger 10/22.
Suppressors are specifically made to withstand the gasses of whatever caliber they are made for, so it’s important to select the right one.
